Mondeo 2.0 TDCI 130 Loss of Power

Many thanks for your advice.This problem has plagued me for some time and have only ever been quoted some horrendous prices and no guarantee that the problem will go.Driving down a country lane at night and suddenly losing power steering and losing lights whilst re-starting is not something I'd like to repeat,almost needed a nappy .

Thanks very much for this information, especially the pictures. I was searching at the back of the engine, as that seemed to be where Haynes manual directed me. Part cost £15, took ten minutes to fix.
